BIKE FITTING AND KINESIOLOGY
The Bike-Improvement team have trained in kinesiology and are experts in the EMMETT technique, which can also help you with underlying problems. The principles of kinesiology are fully integrated in the bike fitting process in order to achieve the best results. Bike fitting also tackles metabolic problems linked to muscle groups.
KINESIOLOGY FOR ADJUSTING YOUR BIKE
Kinesiology is the theory of testing muscles separately to see if all muscles of a certain muscle group are working properly. Bike Improvement can switch off each muscle separately and switch it back on again.
When a muscle scores weakly in the tests, Bike Improvement looks for the reason and tries to make the muscle stronger again, be it neurological, neurolymphatic, neurovascular, radial or osteopathic. Bike-Improvement does all these treatments themselves, with the exception of the osteopathic treatments. If we at Bike-Improvement find that there are major problems, you will be referred to a suitable expert. This might be a doctor, physiotherapist, osteopath or chiropractor.
Through years of experience in bike fitting, Bike Improvement has implemented kinesiology in the bike fitting process, resulting in excellent solutions to all kinds of problems. Therefore we can offer wise advice: Don’t get stuck with a problem, make an appointment at Bike-Improvement in Ranst.
Finally, Bike Improvement can also check which problems occur in certain muscles, while the same goes for the muscle groups, the pelvis and the shoulders. These are often caused by a shortage of certain food supplements, such as vitamins, minerals or amino acids. Bike-Improvement mainly looks at the balance of muscles as a function of the different organs. All muscles are linked to organs and/or adrenal glands, lymph nodes, pancreas, thymus, pituitary and the like. For this method Bike-Improvement relies heavily on the teachings of Joseph Shafer.
WHEN AND HOW IS KINESIOLOGY USED?
When Bike Improvement takes your measurements to determine optimal sitting position, there are a lot of factors to consider. Bike Improvement takes your body into account and Bike Improvement will check that it is completely in balance. Among the things that Bike Improvement examines is whether your pelvis is straight, any differences in your leg lengths and any differences between your arms. Without these checks a correction could be done on a body which is not in balance. Muscle testing is also used to adjust cleats. Finally, Bike Improvement tests control of the leg muscles and might proceed to so-called Mbody-testing. A stress test is one possibility at this stage, but taking a muscle test beforehand should clarify things.
What is Kinesiology ?
On the basis of muscle tests we can determine whether there are muscle or joint problems. The concept is that through muscle imbalance one can test which imbalance can be detected. This can be structural, chemical, nutritional or even emotional when the resistance of the muscle or muscle group in question varies.
The word Kinesiology means the study of movement, especially the study of how muscles work and coordinate to move the body optimally and without pain.
However, in the holistic field, the term is seen and used differently. Here "muscles" become observers of stress and imbalance in the body and "muscle testing", the most important technique in Kinesiology, is used as an effective and versatile tool for detecting and correcting a range of imbalances.
(Holistic means: we look at the whole body and not just the problem area)
