MEASURING THE RIGHT PARAMETERS
The search for your optimal seating position involves two steps. First, a static analysis is carried out. Later this is followed by a dynamic analysis using a video analysis.
With the static analysis Bike Improvement searches for the specific characteristics of each athlete. For this purpose Bike Improvement performs a saddle pressure point analysis which will highlight possible saddle pain. Saddle pain can manifest itself in the form of lower back pain and is the result of a wrong saddle choice or a difference in leg length. Both these problems can be solved.
Other measuring tools used by Bike Improvement are the Mbody EMG measuring device and Leomo Motion Analysis. These measuring devices give Bike-Improvement an insight into the right balance between your quadriceps and hamstrings so that possible injuries can be detected or prevented.
VIDEO ANALYSIS
With video analysis you can perfectly determine your position during full effort. Unlike static analysis, dynamic analysis allows you to fully see how your position translates during full effort. We first analyse your position on the bike at a pedalling frequency varying between 85 and 95 rpm. The power is first kept quite low. Afterwards the same test is done but the power is increased to almost what the athlete can handle. This is followed by an analysis and then we look at how we can best put the athlete on the bike.
Above you see an analysis of a rider in which we note that he is almost optimal in terms of saddle height. Only saddle-steer length can be better (a little too short).
Above you can see that the rider sits very aerodynamically in a normal cycling position. The lower you can sit the better. It depends from person to person how low you can sit comfortably. It depends on the good pelvic tilt and also on age.
